




FORENSIC PSYCHOLOGY POSTDOCTORAL PROGRAM
Program Overview
The Forensic Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowship Program is a full-time,
year-long, organized experience designed to provide the Psychology Resident
with advanced training in Forensic Psychology. Upon completion of the training
program the Resident will have satisfied all of the requirements for
certification as a Forensic Examiner in the Missouri Department of Mental
Health and for licensing as a Psychologist in the State of Missouri. The
Resident will be offered supervision, training, and hands on experience to
develop the knowledge and skills necessary to work as a professional Forensic
Psychologist.
Program Information
Clinical experiences include working directly with forensic clients, attorneys,
detention centers, the Department of Parole and Probation, the Forensic
Aftercare Program, and the criminal courts. Under supervision of a Certified
Forensic Examiner the Resident will complete evaluations and offer testimony
for the courts addressing competency to stand trial, criminal responsibility,
presentencing issues, sexual violent predator status, and other related
matters. The Resident will also be given the opportunity to offer treatment and
consultation services to forensic clients in hospital inpatient units,
detention centers, and outpatient settings. A minimum of 25% of the Resident’s
time will be spent in direct client contact.
Didactics
The Psychology Resident will attend, and have the opportunity to present at,
weekly hospital-wide Grand Rounds and Case Conferences, monthly Psychology
Department In-services, and a monthly readings seminar.
Supervision
A minimum of two hours per week of individual supervision is provided for the
Resident. Primary supervision will be provided by two licensed Psychologists
who are also Certified Forensic Examiners. Additional supervision is available
from members of the Psychology Department at Center for Behavioral Medicine
. Residents also receive a minimum of one hour group supervision each
week. The Director of Forensic Services and the Psychology Department Director
provide formal evaluations of the Resident after six months and at the
completion of the Postdoctoral Fellowship. The Psychology Resident is offered
evaluation and feedback throughout the year so progress can be closely
monitored and communicated in a timely fashion.
